EVE Online market data in Claude via MCP
Connect your AI assistant to EVE-hub once, and you can ask it about the market in plain words: “what should I station-trade in Jita?”, “where is PLEX cheapest right now?”. Claude looks the numbers up on EVE-hub and reasons about them for you. It only reads data — it never places orders and never acts on your game account.
How it works
MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the standard way for AI assistants to use outside tools. EVE-hub runs an MCP server at https://eve-hub.ru/mcp with these tools, and Claude picks the right one by itself whenever your question needs market data:
- get_station_trading — the list from the Station Trading page for any of the four hubs: buy and sell price, profit per unit, margin, daily volume, estimated daily profit, volatility and trend.
- get_item — the best buy and sell price of one item in Jita, Amarr, Dodixie and Rens, as on the item card, found by name or type_id. PLEX is shown in its single global market.
- get_arbitrage — routes from the Arbitrage page: buy in one hub, haul, sell in another, with profit per unit after fees and transport and a realistic daily profit.
- get_trends — the Hot and Falling lists from the Trending page: items whose price moved over the last three days against the month before.
- get_budget_basket — the Trading Budget page: a station-trading basket that fits the ISK you have, sized by how fast each item sells.
- get_recommendations — technical-analysis signals from the Recommendations page. It needs a subscription with technical analysis, the same as on the site; without one the assistant tells you so.
The numbers are the same as on the site, from the same cache refreshed every few minutes, and the answers carry links to the EVE-hub pages they came from. Access is free: all you need is an EVE-hub account. What is paid on the site stays paid through the assistant.
Step 1: create a token
The token is the password your assistant uses to reach EVE-hub.
- Sign in with your EVE Online character.
- Open Settings and scroll down to the AI agents (MCP) block.
- Press Create token. The token and a ready-made command for Claude Code appear right under the button.
Step 2: connect Claude Code
Claude Code is Claude in the terminal, and it connects to EVE-hub directly with your token. It needs Node.js.
-
Install Claude Code:
npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code -
Paste the command shown in Settings — it already contains your token:
claude mcp add --scope user --transport http eve-hub https://eve-hub.ru/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"--scope usermakes EVE-hub available in every folder, not only in the one where you ran the command. -
Check the connection:
Next toclaude mcp listeve-hubyou should see✓ Connected. - Run
claudeand ask your question. The first time Claude wants to use an EVE-hub tool, it asks for permission — allow it.
Or connect Claude Desktop
The Claude Desktop app reaches a server with a token through a small bridge, mcp-remote, which it starts by itself. It needs Node.js too.
- In Claude Desktop open Settings → Developer → Edit Config. This opens the file
claude_desktop_config.json— on macOS it lives in~/Library/Application Support/Claude/. -
Add EVE-hub to it. If the file already has
"mcpServers", put the"eve-hub"entry inside it:{ "mcpServers": { "eve-hub": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://eve-hub.ru/mcp", "--header", "Authorization:${EVE_HUB_AUTH}"], "env": {"EVE_HUB_AUTH": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"} } } } - Quit Claude Desktop completely and open it again — EVE-hub appears among its tools.
On a Mac with Node.js from Homebrew, Claude Desktop may not find npx. Then write the full path /opt/homebrew/bin/npx in "command" and add "PATH": "/opt/homebrew/bin:/usr/bin:/bin" to "env".
Other AI clients
Any MCP client that connects to remote servers over Streamable HTTP and can send its own header will work: server address https://eve-hub.ru/mcp, header Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN.
The web versions of Claude and ChatGPT add servers through connectors that sign in with OAuth. EVE-hub does not offer that sign-in yet, so for now connect through Claude Code or Claude Desktop.
What to ask
- “What is worth station-trading in Jita right now?”
- “Show the top 10 station-trading items in Amarr with a margin of at least 10% and at least 100 units sold a day.”
- “My broker fee is 1.5% and sales tax 3.37% — recalculate Jita with my fees.”
- “Where is PLEX cheapest, and where can I sell it for the most?”
- “Compare Tritanium prices across the four hubs.”
- “What can I haul from Jita to Amarr for a profit?”
- “What is rising and what is falling in Dodixie this week?”
- “I have 500 million ISK — what should I station-trade with it in Jita?”
- “Which of my orders are outbid?” — needs personal data, see below.
Unless you name your fees or allow personal data for the token, Claude assumes an NPC station and low skills: broker fee 3% and sales tax 3.6%. It can also chain the tools — take the station-trading list and check each item across the hubs. Ask it to explain margin, volume or trend, and it will.
/market/item/44992/ is PLEX.
Your own data
With your permission, the assistant can also read your own EVE-hub data. Personal data is off for every token until you allow it in Settings, next to that token:
- get_watchlist — your watchlist with the best prices in each hub.
- get_my_orders — the active orders of your main character and which of them are outbid, as on the Active orders analysis page.
- get_my_wallet — the wallet balance and the trading summary for 30 days, or for 90 and 365 days with a subscription that includes operation history — as on the site.
- get_my_fees — your broker fee and sales tax from your skills and your saved thresholds, so that station-trading and arbitrage numbers match your character.
- get_my_alerts — your price alerts.
The data is the same as on your dashboard: only your main character (you can change it in Settings), refreshed in the background — if it is still loading, the assistant says so. These tools only read: they never change orders, alerts or the watchlist.
Limits and safety
- Read-only. The tools only read data. They never place orders, never move ISK or act on your game account, and the decision to trade stays with you.
- Same data as the site. Prices come from the same cache as EVE-hub pages, refreshed every few minutes; volumes and trends come from daily market history.
- Your data stays on the site unless you allow it. Without personal data allowed for the token, your fees, thresholds and character data are not passed to the assistant — tell it your fees if you want them used.
- 30 tool calls per minute per token. An assistant that runs past it is told to retry in a few seconds and carries on.
- Up to five active tokens. Revoke the ones you no longer use — the list in Settings shows when each was last used.
If it does not connect
- “Failed to connect” or “MCP endpoint not found” in Claude Code. Check that the address ends in
/mcpand that the token is still active in Settings — a revoked one stops working at once. Remove the server withclaude mcp remove eve-huband add it again with a fresh command from Settings. - EVE-hub is missing in another folder. The server was added without
--scope userand is visible only where you ran the command. Add it again with that flag. - Claude Desktop does not show EVE-hub. Make sure the app was fully closed and reopened after editing the file; on a Mac, see the note about the
npxpath above. - The assistant says there is no data. Market data for that hub has not loaded yet, and the site shows the same. Try again in a few minutes.
- The assistant says the report is being calculated. Trends, recommendations and arbitrage with your own fees are calculated in the background, as on the site. Ask again in a minute or two.
